When dropped by Amsterdam a few days ago, I was thinking how well their fintech is doing and twitted about their inadequate communication between fintech startups and the financial regulators (@fintech_boy). Although I am off Amsterdam and in Capri now, I had a chance to read thru an article by Don Ginsel, founder of Holland FinTech, in the recently published The FinTech Book.

A little story about Don Ginsel & Holland FinTech

Don Ginsel was a part time blogger and saw opportunities between entrepreneurs, financial institutes, and customers. He then leveraged his network and “evangelized” fintech among investors, startups, and service providers. He gradually was able to get supports from big names like KPMG and IBM and had the first meetup on Oct 2014, that over 100 people attended. Holland FinTech was born.

Since then, Holland FinTech has been promoting fintech in The Netherlands and shaping up the ecosystem. In 2015, they achieved to create StartupDelta, which is an organization focused on connecting Holland fintech community to the world and vice versa.

On the other hand, Mayor of London positioning London as the fintech capital of the world. With the advancement of fintech services in London, Mayor Johnson reveals to have a stronger collaboration with Tokyo; while there are Rugby World Cup 2019 and Olympic 2020 in front of Tokyo to let fintech services flourish *(1).

先日、オランダのアムステルダムを通った時に、そこのフィンテックはどうしているのかと思って、そこでのスタートアップと金融監査の関係やコミュニケーションについてtwitしました。今はアムステルダムを離れてイタリアのカピリ島にいますが、Don Ginsel（Holland FinTechの創立者）が書いた記事をThe FinTech Bookで読むチャンスがありました。

Don Ginsel & Holland FinTechのストーリー

パートタイムブゴッガーだったDon Ginselは、起業者と金融機関と消費者の間でギャップを見つけました。そして、彼は自分の知り合いのネットワークを活かして、投資者と起業者とサービス提供者の間でフィンテックについて宣伝しました。この行動が徐々にKPMGやIBMなどのような大企業にサポートされて、2014年10月に初めての懇親会が開催しました。100人以上の参加者が来て、Holland FinTechが生まれました。

それ以来、Holland FinTechがオランダフィンテックのエコスステムをサポートしてきました。2015年、StartupDeltaという組織を設立して、オランダと世界の間のブリッジを目指しているそうです。

また、ロンドン市長ジョンソン氏が「ロンドンは世界のフィンテックキャピタルだ！」という宣言しました。フィンテックの先進シティとして、ロンドンはこれから東京とより親密なコラボしますと。2019年のラグビーワールドカップと2020年のオリンピックのきっかけで、東京のフィンテックは咲くだろう*(1)。
